Wizconsin T's for the Holidays

With the Holiday's right around the corner give any Wisconsin sports the gift of urban sportswear. Four unique designs celebrating the traditions, accomplishments and history of our city and teams.

Bernie's Chalet

The greatest in stadium signage ever. The beer-barreled chalet was built for Bernie where he led the crowd in cheering. Following each home run and every victory, he slid down and plunged himself into a huge beer mug in celebration. It's made of golden yellow fabric like your favorite pilsner. The screen is on the lower left of the shirt.

The AL

"If the waitress has dirty ankles, the chili should be good" It is quotes like these that makes the coach a legend in the city. His name is synonymous with 1977. He was on of the most joyful and charismatic in college basketball history. Looks great on and off the court.

The Brew City

The tailgates. The roof. The return to the playoffs. Who dosen't love this town? Let your civic pride shine on through this shirt, which was created just of people like yourself. It's a rare brew, clean and refreshing.

The First Baseman

The Homerun Derby King. The slugger. The first baseman. One of the most prolific hitters in team history. This future legend is deserving of his own symbol. So whether he desides to go as a "The Artist" or just Prince, everyone in Brewer nation hopes he continues to rule the park for years to come.

Shoot me a note at michaelwiz@gmail.com if you would like to place an order or have questions. Each shirt is $20 plus shipping (were applicable). Thanks.

Lets Give Him A Nick Name

Ersan Ilyasova has been a bright surprise in this early Bucks season. He has played great defense, shot the ball better than expected, and has been a rebounding stud.

So after a few holiday beers with friends Kondo and Greg Matzek, we decided he deserved a true Milwaukee nickname.

Ilyasova is one of those hard to pronounce and spell. I being of eastern european decent, Wisniewski, know the value of a good nickname - Wiz, Wizzy, Wizard. It helps me out everyday and gives me a point of distinction.

To give a nickname you need to know the person on a certain level. Let's dive deeper with the "Man Behind the Mask."

Here is what we know. He is in his second stint with the Bucks and changed his number from 19 to 7. He is a second round pick in 2005. But he is so much more.

He is an actor/pitchman....

He is a dead ringer for actor Josh Hartnett...

So with that in mind, here is what I got...
  • Face - an homage to the A-team and the mask he currently dawns
  • Hannibal - again for the face mask
  • Illy - it is urban and works, simple and easy
  • Sova - like Jay-Z's HOVA but with a much better jump shot
Got any ideas? Send them my way.

Prince Was Robbed

Albert Pujols had a great season and is well deserving of his third MVP award. But I have a problem is Prince finish fourth in the voting. I understand that the Brewers lack luster season hurt him in the voting but forth is ridiculous.

Prince had 45 homers to Pujols' 46 and tied Ryan Howards RBI output with 141. Take Prince out of the Brewers equation and the team would have been in real trouble. Fielder's case for finishing second, in my opinion, was the best. Ramirez and Howard were definitely helped by their teams being in playoff contention longer.

I was hoping for some more love and respect from the national media. Next year I guess. I hope this give Prince a chip on his shoulder and he has even a better season in 2010.

Look for Brewer Nation to be rocking the Prince Shirt next season in support of the sluggers MVP quest.

And here is a track from Prote-J about Prince Fielder to tie you'll over until Spring Training.

Pabst For Sale

Pabst has been on the market for a few months but two advertising agencies have come together to try and purchase Pabst Brewing Company. Based on the principle of crowdsourcing, Buy A Beer Company was born - taking tasks traditionally performed by an employee and out sourcing it to a community in the form of an open call. Pledges start as low as $5 and range up to $250,000.

Once the goal of $300 million has been reached, you will be sent your very own certificate of ownership suitable for framing as well as enough beer to match your pledge.

All We Are Saying....

I came across this great holiday program from Volcom on the Moda3 blog. Volcom has teamed up with The National Coalition for the Homeless for a "Jean Drive."

You're asking, why should I participate? Besides the fact that it is better to give than receive. Moda3 will have drop off bin at the shop and you will be entered to win a years worth of denim from Volcom.

Not good enough, Moda3 is kicking in a special coupon for all donations - $20 off your next purchase of $100. Why wouldn't you want to participate, it's the holiday season.

Rock and Roll Cartoons

This Sunday will feature some pretty cool animated cameos on American Dad and The Cleveland Show, both Seth MacFarlane projects.

American Dad will feature My Morning Jacket, in their first animated treatment. The episode will be titled "My Morning Straightjacket." The Plot line will follow lead character Stan Smith and his transformation into an obsessed groupie. My Morning Jacket will supply their own voices. The episode will air November 22nd.

Hall and Oates will be appearing on The Cleveland Show. They will appear as themselves but as an angel and devil, respectively. This will be their first appearance on the show, but word is there could be more appearances in the works.

Celebrity Status

Jason Segel performed this original song with The Swell Season in LA on November 18th. Very funny, I can not wait for The Muppets to return with personal touch.

Pug Life

This photo is by one of my favorite photographers - C.J. Foeckler. He is one of the hardest working guys I know. You can see him shooting shows and at the Pabst, Turner, and Riverside - sometimes all in the same night. He also has developed a great portfolio of portraits, illustrations, and designs. Check out more of his work here and enjoy in moderation.

Any suggestions, comments, concerns.... Please send them my way. Thanks for reading.

Washburn thinking about Brewers

It comes to little surprise that Tom Haudricourt reported that Wisconsin native and one of this years top pitching free agent Jarrod Washburn has interest in the Brewers. Hopefully they can land him to fix their pitching problems of 2009. Read more about it here.

Charlotte Gainsbourg f| Beck, 'Heaven Can Wait'

The French singer-songwritter and actress has teamed up with Beck. The video features a series of striking visual images: a man with pancakes for a head, a game of fruit baseball and a half-beard are among the surrealist absurdities.

Charlotte's Beck-produced LP, IRM is due out on January 26.

P.S. Nice hair cut Beck

Smoove and Turrell

I just picked up the Antique Soul, the debut album by Smoove and Turrell. This album will go down as one of my favorite albums of 2009. From beginning to end the album carries old dusty beats with a contemporary overlay.

It is good to see another group making soul music correctly.

The xx - Basic Space

Just came across this mis-post on Aziz Ansari's Twitter feed. His mis-post is my benefit. The band is called The xx. The song "Basic Space" and it has a great groove. Their album dropped in August and are currently touring the states.

I love the play of Mbah a Moute, he has established himself as the Bucks defensive stopper. Great selection by G.M. John Hammond. Also, J.B. Smoove character Leon on Curb is always fantastic. Enjoy this montage.

Bernie Brewer Chalet

The greatest in stadium signage ever and the biggest mistake of Miller Park. The beer-barreled chalet was built for Bernie where he led the crowd in cheering. Following each home run and every victory, he slid down and plunged himself into a huge beer mug in celebration, releasing celebratory balloons.

The shirt pays true respect to County Stadium. Made of golden yellow fabric like your favorite pilsner, it can be enjoyed pre, during and post game.

Get the shirt and head to Lakefront Brewery tour and see this stadium marvel being preserved. Contact me to place an order.

Catch The Fever

Fever Marlene is one of my favorite Wizconsin bands. They are playing tomorrow night at the Whiskey Bar. If you have not heard them before they combine complex laying of electro samples with rock-pop beats. They have a revealing lyrical sound could be considered mainstream alternative but who the hell knows what that even means. The two piece band offers more than just a novelty on stage, they work their asses off to get the most out of their instruments to fill the room with harmonious sound.

So tomorrow, go to the show, support local music, Enjoy.

The Slugger Formaly Known as Prince

What do you get when you combine the following...

With one of the most prolific sluggers in Milwaukee Brewers history....

You get the inspiration for the following Wizconsin T-shirt.

The Homerun Derby King. The slugger. The first baseman. This future legend is deserving of his own symbol. So whether he desides to go as a "The Artist" or Prince, Brewer nation hopes he will continue to rule the park for many more years.

The Brew City

This is the first shirt in the Wizconsin portfolio. It highlights the deep traditions, architectural innovation of our team and city. Just like the Brewers, it is sleek, stylish and everyone will want to take one home. Shoot me a note if you want to sport one at the Park next season.
